The WP2Woo Podcast – Episode 15

Welcome to Episode 15 of the WP2Woo Podcast – this week we were going to be talking about Accessibility and Website Security Headers but we went a little deep into the issues we need to be thinking about for Accessibility and just ran out of time to look at the Security Headers

What’s new

WooCommerce 5.1 was released the same day we recorded last week’s podcast – I’ve seen a few people say that they had problems

Elementor updated on 18 March too after some Cross Scripting vulnerabilities were found – I’ve seen reports that 7 million websites were impacted and if your sites are among them then you need to update to version 3.1.4 asap.

Bing – earlier this year Bing began asking webmasters to submit their new URLs rather than waiting for Bing to crawl them and now they have an API that allows you to bulk-submit up to 10,000 URLs a day.

You can read more about it here https://www.seroundtable.com/bing-adds-batch-url-submission-api-27723.html

And FYI don’t dismiss Bing as being not worth your time. You might find, as I did a couple of years ago, that Bing sends you more buyers than Google does. Google will send you far more visitors but it seems that, for some products, Bing users are more likely to want to part with their money than Google tyre kickers are.

Google’s Video SEO Guide
Last week Google released a Video SEO guide to help you get your videos ranked better and you will find more information here:

Website Accessibility

It’s all about making your website accessible to as many people as possible. It means that you need to factor in the time … and possibly extra funding … to make sure that the website you are building is accessible to everyone … including people with disabilities.

Toni talks about some simple steps you can take to start getting your website compliant with accessibility laws in your country … and there are laws and it could cost you a lot of money if you do not comply with those laws.

Here is a link to Toni’s notes about Accessibility and you will find all the links that she mentioned on the podcast in those notes.
